Corangamite Shire has a vibrant and active arts community that could insome way be described as operating 'underground'.  That is to say that even though there are a number of activities and events that are obvious to the general population, the shire has a significant number of internationally recognised and acclaimed artists and performers whose reputations may not generally be know.  Local visual artist Marion Manifold, President of Corangamite Arts Inc is represented in Regional Gallery collections around Australia as well as the National Gallery of Australia and the Cite des Arts Paris in France.  She has recently been appointed as artist in residency at Paris City International Residency, by the Australia Council of the Arts.

Local musician and instrument maker Peter Duffy and the Funky String Band has toured Australia and Scotland with several recordings to their name.  Peter makes himself available through the weekly Tune a Week program offered by Corangamite Arts Inc in their small room in the Theatre Royal, Camperdown.

Gail Watson, former Corangamite Arts Inc President and tireless volunteer for the arts in the region, is an accomplished published writer and poet.  Other arts and performers include Carol Eagle, an internationally recognised exhibiting and award winning textile artist; Celtic musician, Don Grieve, a Robbie Burns aficionado, has played with the Fureys, Christy Moore, Maddy Prior and Foster & Allen.  Angela Preiss flute player and Celtic harpist, has played internationally as well as nationally.  Steve Gilchrist is a high regarded musician, mandolin maker and world renown and highly sought after for performances in America.  Michelle Shearer owner of Sand & Fire Gallery in Terang has treaveled the world studying glass sculpture and is currently lecturing at SW TAFE.  Many of these arts practitioners are members of Corangamite Arts Inc
