Fire Awareness & Planning
Fire Prevention in Corangamite
The reduction of fire risks requires a community effort. Everyone should prepare for summer by removing fire hazards from their homes and workplaces, with preparation taking place before the summer fire danger period.
Prior to this period, council officers authorised to inspect private land may serve landowners with Notices to Remove Fire Hazards where required. Heavy penalties apply for non-compliance.

These are community meetings for people living in high fire risk areas.

Bushfire risk in your local area
Fire Danger Ratings (FDR) and Warnings - what they mean and when to act
Personal safety and how you can survive a bushfire
Developing a Bushfire Survival Plan
Programs and resources available to help you
You'll also be able to ask questions about your own situation, such as:
- How will I know when to leave?
- Where should I go?
- How will I get there?
The cancellation or postponement of scheduled Fire Ready meetings will occur if a Total Fire Ban is declared within your district. Meetings will be postponed so that residents can activate their bushfire survival plans and leave early.
