Extra Care for Families
Our Enhanced team assist with extra needs. Some examples include:
- Multiple births, infant and child feeding concerns
- Transport issues
- Using the Centrelink, Medicare, and Birth Registration systems
- Finding options and exploring your baby/child's readiness for playgroups, daycare and kindergarten
- Lack of local or family support as you adjust to parenting
- Mental health concerns, drug and alcohol issues, or family violence
- Accessing local services for items like clothing, baby goods and food if your family experiences hardship
The Enhanced program is available for families from birth to 3.5 years of age and is staffed by maternal and child health nurses and an early years worker.
You may be offered the Enhanced program by your MCH practitioner. Or you can self-refer or be referred by your doctor, hospital or a community worker.
