Submissions have now closed.

Council is proposing the replacement of the old toilet at Jubilee Park in Skipton for a new facility and would like to hear the community's opinion and ideas.

The new facility proposes:

  • Construction of new unisex toilets including an ambulant and an accessible toilet with a baby change table
  • Modular units
  • Stainless steel fittings and fixtures
  • Option for a shelter next to the toilet

Design

The design of the toilet will seek to maintain a high level of satisfaction among users with hygiene and appearance, and will optimise the total life cycle cost to Council by incorporating features that reduce operation and maintenance costs

Our engineers have designed four different layout options, and we would like the community's input to determine the preferred layout:

Option 1 - Two unisex, accessible toilets

Sustainability

Public toilets will be built and managed in accordance with the environmentally sustainable design principles. Toilets will be designed to minimise their energy needs and reduce the building's ongoing energy and water demands.

Some environmentally sustainable concepts and initiatives that can be incorporated within the design concept at Skipton include:

  • Natural light
  • Low energy fixtures
  • Use of natural ventilation
  • Light-coloured and reflective internal surfaces
  • Dual flush systems
  • Time controlled taps
  • Flow regulators on taps
  • Water efficient fixtures.

Incorporating general design features during the planning and construction stages of the development can reduce resource use and improve the facility's operational efficiency.

For Council it is important to design and build efficient and environmentally smart facilities to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, water use and waste generation.
