AT THE MAY COUNCIL MEETING, COUNCIL: 

  • Endorsed the Committee of Management for the Kilnoorat Cemetery for 2019-2022: Ruth Brain, Graeme Fishcher, Pamela Jellie, Margaret Nixon, Nick Cole, Michael Nixon, Terry Brain  
  • Appointed Mark McKenzie, Bronwyn McKenzie, Marion Gordon and James Maxwell as community members to the Beach Energy Otway Gas Plant Community Reference Group for two years
  • Adopted a new Trails Management Policy
  • Adopted the Long Term Asset Management Plan 2019-2029
  • Adopted the Corangamite Shire Rural Living Strategy
  • Endorsed the Mt Leura and Mt Sugarloaf Management Action Plan 2019-2023
  • Endorsed the Draft Mt Noorat Management Plan and released it for public comment 
  • Received a report on Council’s swimming pool operations for the 2018-2019 season. There were a total of 46,206 attendances in 2018-2019 compared to 46,612 attendances in 2017-2018
  • Awarded the Cleaning of Council Buildings contract to Ausbright Facilities Management from 1 July 2019 to 30 June 2021, with the option to extend the contract for a further two year term
  • Awarded the Home and Community Care Home Maintenance Service (Lawn Mowing and Gardening) contract to Jim’s Mowing for a period of three years starting 1 July 2019
  • Awarded some Quick Response Grants to Lismore/Derrinallum CWA, Port Campbell Boardriders and U3A Corangamite
  • Supported a motion to send a letter to the Premier of Victoria, Leader of the Opposition, Minister and Shadow Minister for Police and Emergency Services highlighting the negative impacts caused by a recent decline in emergency service volunteer numbers, in particular, the strain on the small number of active volunteers servicing Port Campbell and surrounds.
