What happened at the March Council Meeting
At its March meeting, Council:
- Voted to defer and waive interest on rates due by 31 May until 31 July 2020
- Voted to not apply a rate increase in the 2020-21 Budget
- Recommended $2.5 million be set aside in next year’s Budget to fund measures that could support ratepayers and businesses affected by closedowns and job losses due to the coronavirus pandemic
- Extended the powers of the CEO in the event
a. a state of emergency is declared and
b. due to illness or self isolation, not enough Councillors are available to form a quorum at a Council
meeting
- Approved a planning permit for development at the Kangaroobie school camp and group accommodation, Princetown
- Received an update on the Twelve Apostles Trail project
- Received an update on the Timboon Town Centre Activation Project
- Adopted an updated Cattle Underpasses Policy
- Adopted an updated Works Within Road Reserves Permit Policy
- Adopted an updated Information Privacy Policy and re-appointed the Manager Human Resources/risk as Council’s Privacy Contact Officer
due to the changes in recycling and the current COVID-19 emergency chose not to award the contract but to extend the waste contract to the existing supplier for a further three years
- Entered into a lease agreement with Murnong Indigenous Garden Incorporated to use the former Lismore Croquet Club
- Approved purchase of two cabins at the Lakes & Craters Holiday Park, Camperdown
- Approved expenditure for one Councillor from the new Council to attend:
- the National Local Roads and Transport Congress 2020
- Rescheduled its September meeting to Tuesday 15 September, because of the election caretaker period
