What happened at the June meeting of Council

 AT ITS JUNE MEETING, COUNCIL:

  • Issued a planning permit for expansion of a grain storage and handling facility on Foxhow-Berrybank Road
  • Adopted the:
     - Universal Access Ramps on Footpaths Policy June 2020
     - Heavy Vehicle Access Policy June 2020
     - School Bus Shelters Policy June 2020
     - Retail Area Façade Improvement Program Policy June 2020
     - Domestic Wastewater Contribution Program Policy June 2020

  • Received the report on Council’s swimming pool operations for the 2019-2020 season 
  • Approved proposed Cobden Civic Hall fees and charges to commence 1 July 
  • Resolved to advertise intention to enter into a five-year lease for use of 31 Main Street, Derrinallum, as a coffee shop, community meeting space and community garden
  • Awarded:
    - Contract 2021007 Provision of Road Maintenance Products and Services
    - Contract 2021003 Supply and Loading or Supply and Delivery of Road Making Materials 
  • Resolved not to provide support for intervention by the Minister for Planning and request that ACEnergy submit a planning permit application to Council for assessment of the proposed Terang Battery Energy Storage System
  • Designated the Camperdown Avenue as a Bushfire Place of Last Resort 
  • Allocated Quick Response Grants to:
    - Kolora-Noorat Football Netball Club ($500) to assist compliance with COVID-19 return to training guidelines
    - Lake Purrumbete Angling Club ($500) towards purchase of a generator
    - Lions Club of Camperdown Inc ($500) to replacement of a laptop
    - Terang Cricket Club ($500) towards two iPads for live scoring
    - Terang Golf Club ($500) towards replacement of fairway mower
    - Port Campbell Surf Life Saving Club ($500) for housing of defibrillator for public use
    - Cobden Junior Fire Brigade ($500) for new competition running tops/uniform for the junior brigade
    - Cobden Olympic Basketball Association ($500) for tops for Cobden juniors
    - Cobden Pioneer Dairy Park ($500) towards remedial work on historic buildings 
  • Resolved to write to the Premier requesting that he consider a system of zoning that allow regions to open up with less restrictions following the Term 2 school holidays if they are COVID-19-free
