What happened at the April 2024 Council meeting

At its April meeting, Council:

  • Received the 2023-2024 Mt Leura and Mt Sugarloaf Management Committee Annual Report and 2024-2025 proposed budget and appointed Graham Arkinstall and Mary Graham as community representatives on the committee for three years
  • Received the finance report for the period ending 31 March 2024
  • Authorised the CEO to sign a letter of intent and enter into negotiations with the Victorian Energy Collaboration (VECO) and, if satisfied, enter into joint procurement contract CT202098 for the supply of electricity to small and large market metered Council sites until December 2030
  • Adopted new:
    - Sale of Council Land and Buildings Policy dated April 2024
    - Public Art Policy dated April 2024
    - Social Media Policy – Councillors dated April 2024
    - Media Relations Policy dated April 2024
    - Governance Rules dated April 2024
  • Approved release of the Grow Corangamite (Agricultural Strategy) Background Report and the Timber Plantation Impacts Discussion Paper for community engagement
  • Varied to include final costs and seek contributions from property owners benefitting from Special Charge Schemes for installation of footpath and associated works on 

  - the southern side of Tait Street from west of Daskein Street to Clarke Street, Camperdown; and
  - the western side of McKinnon Street from Prince Street to Estcourt Street, Terang:

  • Resolved to submit a motion for consideration at the National General Assembly of Local Government
  • Authorised the CEO to make a submission to the Inquiry into Local Government Sustainability 2024
  • Noted that the CEO and Mayor had rescheduled Council’s September ordinary meeting to Monday 23 September 2024
  • Approved the four Business Assistance Scheme applications for:

  - Creative on High: $532.00 excl GST.
  - Dalvue Motel: $685 excl GST.
  - Adams Bikes: $3,234.10 excl GST.
  - Innerbloom Gardening Therapy: $2000 excl GST.
