What happened at the November Council Meeting

At its November meeting, Council

  • set the length of the Mayoral term at one year;
  • elected Cr Kate Makin as Mayor;
  • elected Cr Laurie Hickey as Deputy Mayor;
  • elected designated Councillors to various committees;
  • appointed Jim Gifford as an independent member of the Corangamite Shire Council Audit and Risk Committee up to 31 January 2025;
  • adopted the Key Worker Preferential Access Scheme Policy November 2023;
  • authorised the Chief Executive Officer to execute the sale of lots following
    • issue of a planning permit; and
    • registration of the plan of subdivision;
  • adopted the Dust Suppression Policy dated November 2023(PDF, 218KB);
  • resolved to lease
    • 137 High Street, Terang (Little Acorn Café) for 21-years to Cooinda Terang Inc. for use as a coffee shop, art and pottery sales shop; and
    • 10 Montgomery Street, Skipton for five years to Skipton Progress Association Inc for community use;
  • Resolve to declare a $94,643 special charge scheme for new concrete footpath and associated works on the eastern side of Cameron Street from Neil Avenue to McWilliam Street, Terang; and
  • Noted Ready Now Grants to:
    • Derrinallum Cricket Club Inc. ($500) to buy protective cricket gear;
    • Camperdown Theatre Company Inc. ($500) for staging and advertising of Camperdown Community Carols;
    • Port Campbell Progress Group Inc. ($404) to buy a teardrop flag and base;
    • Heytesbury District Historical Society Inc. ($500) to buy a computer and cataloguing system;
    • Timboon Field and Game Club Inc. ($330) to buy three hand-held UHF radio sets; and
    • Simpson and District Community Centre Inc. ($500) to buy whiteboards, stationery and local excursions to retail venues for CALD conversational English language program.
