What happened at the March 2025 Council meeting

At its March meeting Council

  • received the Biannual Audit and Risk Committee Report for March 2025;
  • resolved to seek authorisation from the Planning Minister for Planning Scheme Amendment C67 and, after receiving authorisation, to exhibit it, subject to final ordinance and mapping changes;
  • Adopted the
    • Borrowing Policy March 2025;
    • Residential Properties used for Charitable Purposes Policy March 2025;
    • Councillor Professional Development Policy March 2025;
    • Chief Executive Officer Employment and Renumeration Policy and Terms of Reference March 2025;
    • Councillor Candidates at Federal or State Election Policy March 2025;
    • Sexual Harassment Prevention and Reporting Policy March 2025; and
    • Corangamite Shire Early Years Plan 2025 – 2035 (noting implementation is subject to annual budget allocation, including external funding;
  • resolved to not proceed with a special charge scheme for a concrete footpath on the western side of Morris Street, Port Campbell, (Lord Street to Great Ocean Road) and reallocate $11,000 (inc GST) in the 2024-2025 Council budget for the scheme to construct a concrete footpath on the western side of Morris Street from Lord Street to the pub car park;
  • updated the Instrument of Appointment and Authorisation; and
  • approve Business Assistance Scheme funding for:
    • Milk and Honey, Timboon ($2,207.28 ex GST) to improve safety and beautify the second entrance, and to waive planning permit fee;
    • Lakes and Craters Band Camperdown Inc ($1,050 excluding GST) to develop a new website and train group members to self-manage the content; and
  • a variation, to end June 2025, to the Business Assistance Scheme Stream 1 for Port Campbell businesses by:
    • removing the $1 for $1 contribution requirement with applications under this variation;
    • capping the contribution to a single business/project at $5000; and
    • authorise the CEO to approve applications.
  • Cr Vogels Congratulated the Port Campbell community on another successful Crayfest festival.
  • Cr Cole congratulated the Timboon community on the successful 150th Anniversary celebration and invited the community members to the Skipton ‘Clear the Carp’ fishing competition on Sunday 13 April to remove the introduced pest from Mt Emu Creek.
  • During open forum, Port Campbell resident Peter Younis tabled a petition relating to the Port Campbell Town Centre Project and resident Marion Manifold spoke in support of the petition.
