Our Shire's children will enjoy nature based activities thanks to Mortlake South Wind Farm.

Council’s Family and Children’s Services Team successfully applied for grant funding from wind farm developer ACCIONA’s $20,000 Mortlake South Wind Farm community sponsorship program.

Family Day Care Coordinator Christine Dewhurst thanked ACCIONA for supporting Corangamite Shire communities and Early Years Services.

“We received $2000 for the Nature Bus to visit Council’s Family and Children’s Services this year,” Ms Dewhurst said.

“Noorat’s Tania Moloney, of Nurture in Nature, developed the Nature Bus through the Government Pick Your Project funding.

“The Nature Bus has been involved in visiting many of Corangamite Family and Children’s Services

“The initial application was for two visits this year to each service, however, reduced funding and COVID-19 means we will cut the suit to fit our cloth. The proposal will be adapted to suit the circumstances.”

The Nature Bus is a mobile classroom that provides nature-based learning programs, nature play and environmental stewardship initiatives.

Earlier this year ACCIONA invited applications from community groups that contribute to the sustainable development for their community.

Since it was established in 2010, the program has contributed more than $150,000 to community groups throughout Mortlake, Noorat, Kolora and Terang.
