Fun, fitness, good tunes and a great time with friends – a roller disco is just one of the fantastic activities on offer at Timboon Stadium’s second annual open day.

Recreation Officer Timboon Stadium Angelique Cangelis said free clinics with high-profile coaches were aimed at attracting people from across the district.

“It’s going to be exciting,” Ms Cangelis said.

“It’s to showcase where we are and what we can offer here.

“It’s not only sports. We could be hired out for birthday parties functions, or even meetings if needed.

“We want to get people through the door. Some people don’t even know we have a gym.”

Doors will open at 9 am on Sunday 2 June and start with a mass Netfit class with Sarah Wall from 9.30-11 am.

“She will cater for all ages in that group,” Ms Cangelis said.

“They’ll be learning skills for 45 minutes and then they’ll have a 15 minute ‘healthy netball’ chat after that.

Next up, Warrnambool Seahawks legend Bobby Cunningham will run two basketball skills clinics.

“The first, from 11.30 am-2.30 pm, is aimed at the over 13 age group—male and female.

“The second, from 12.30-1.30 pm, is aimed at the under 13s.

“We also have a squash coaching clinic with Darcy Walsh from 10.30 am-12.30 pm.

“He’s a national winner and a district local.”

There will be a roller disco from 2-5 pm with entry by gold coin donation.

Music and lighting will be by Ash Ellemor.

Ms Cangelis said there would be games and prizes as part of the disco.

“That’s run by the Warrnambool Roller Derby League.

“The night before, from 5-6 pm, they’ll holding a come and try day for over 8s.

“People who want to come and try roller skating can get tips or skills. If you want to learn, come along. All gear is provided and no experience needed.

“If people are interested they can register for the derby.

“Then the next day, come along and enjoy the roller disco.”

A coffee van will be at the stadium from 10am-3pm on Sunday to keep the energy levels up. There will also be a barbecue and other drinks and snacks.
