New waste app with all the Binfo you need

To make bin night and recycling easier for residents, Corangamite Shire Council has launched a new waste mobile app, called Corangamite Binfo.

The Corangamite Binfo app can be downloaded from the App Store or Google Play. Once downloaded, it can be set up for helpful bin night reminders, calendar notifications, service changes or delay alerts, and includes an easy A-Z waste materials guide.

Waste & Circular Economy Officer, Chandani Sharma, said the app is another positive step forward to reducing recyclable materials going to landfill.

“With the glass recycling system up and running, we felt it was important our residents had easy access to the information they need to manage their waste and recycling,” Ms Sharma said.

“Not only does this app give you reminders of what bins to put out each week, but you can easily search and find out how to dispose of items.

“This will help reduce contamination in our yellow recycling and purple glass bins, meaning less waste will go to landfill.”

Cr Jamie Vogels, encouraged all kerbside collection residents to download the app.

“This app will make bin collection and correct waste disposal a breeze for our residents. Corangamite Binfo will put this information literally at your fingertips,” Cr Vogels said.

“With four bins now on the service, it can be confusing which ones to put out and when. This app will give you that information in one easy tap or notification.”

The Victorian State Government Circular Economy (Waste and Recycling) Act 2021 aims to increase the amount of material that can be recycled up to 80% by 2030. Corangamite Shire’s kerbside waste diversion is currently at 58.64%.
