The Port Campbell Car Parking Survey completed earlier this year has been released for public viewing by Corangamite Shire Council.
Chief Executive Officer Andrew Mason said the project included 21 separate surveys undertaken between December 2019 and February 2020.
“Those surveys capture useful data around visitation, before the impacts of COVID-19 started having an effect from late February onwards. It is also recognised that visitor numbers were affected by December/January bushfires.
“The results and analysis will be used for strategic planning in Port Campbell in the future.”
The survey found Lord Street and Cairns Street were the most sought-after parking locations with many motorists parking outside designated spaces, rather than in available spaces further away.
Between 550 and 900 vehicles park in any given day, most for less than two hours.
The study was completed by ESR Transport Planning. It includes recommendations around future parking supply options and management arrangements. The report can be viewed in full on our website.
