Timboon up for Top Tourism Town award

After taking home silver in 2021 and 2022, Timboon is going for gold in 2024 with some help from Corangamite Shire residents.
Timboon is one of five finalists in the Top Tiny Tourism Town (population under 1,500) category. Other finalists in the category include Arthurs Seat, Dookie, Koondrook and Trawool.
The annual awards recognise regional towns and centres that offer amazing visitor experiences.
Mayor Kate Makin encouraged Shire residents to enlist their friends, family and extended networks to vote for Timboon.
“Voting is open to everyone and we need every family member or friend from around Australia to vote,” Cr Makin said.
“We are thrilled to be recognised as a finalist again in the tiny town category.
“A lot of work has gone into putting together a high-quality submission featuring the work of a local videographer, travel writer and young musicians.
“But it’s really a reflection of Timboon’s small-town charm, and the way businesses and Timboon Action are working together to make it a great place to visit and live,” she added.
Corangamite Shire residents have until 5 pm, Monday 24 June to cast their vote and help Timboon claim the top spot.
“The public voting is a crucial part of the award process and contributes 25 per cent to the overall score,” Cr Makin said.
Voters must visit www.vtic.com.au/toptourismtown and select a favourite destination in each of the three categories: Top Victorian Town, Small Regional Town and Tiny Regional Town.
Mayor Makin encouraged voters to use their other two votes to support South-West finalists Warrnambool (Top Town category) and Koroit (Small Regional Town category).
“We urge everyone to go online and vote for Timboon, Warrnambool and Koroit.
“A vote for Warrnambool and Koroit is a vote for the Great Ocean Road region,” she said.
Voters go in a draw to win ‘one perfect Melbourne stay’ for two including two nights’ accommodation at the Sofitel, dining vouchers to some of Melbourne’s best restaurants (Chin Chin and Yakimono) and two tickets for The Lume and Artvo.
