Workshops to help community groups get grants
Published on 15 April 2025
Community groups can benefit from hundreds of grants programs if they know where to look and how to make a successful application.
Corangamite Shire Council’s Economy and Prosperity team will run a series of workshops to help volunteer groups access funding.
“This will be the first in a series of community leadership workshops,” Mayor Kate Makin said.
“They sessions are designed to help community groups understand the grant writing process.
“The aim is to help volunteers understand program guidelines, how to prepare a budget, and how to best sell your project to the funding body.
“Gaining these skills will open up opportunities through not only Council grants, but hundreds of funding programs from State and Federal governments, philanthropic organizations, industry specific organisations, community banks and more.
“The money is out there, but you have to show your project will provide worthwhile benefits to your community.”
The workshop will be led by Coordinator Community Engagement and Development Bec Reedman.
“I have worked in the not-for-profit sector for over 30 years,” Ms Reedman said.
“In that time, I have assisted community groups access thousands of grants from philanthropic, private, business, and government sectors.”
