Child Safe Standards Commitment

Corangamite Shire Council is committed to the safety, participation, and empowerment of all children. Reducing and removing the risk of child abuse is at the centre of our decision-making concerning children in our organisation. Council as a Child Safe organisation has zero tolerance for child abuse and all allegations and safety concerns are treated seriously and acted upon. Council will actively listen to children, ensuring their voices are heard and considered in decisions that affect their lives.

About our programs

We operate 7 kindergartens; Skipton, WesternPlains (Derrinallum and Lismore) Terang, Cobden, Timboon and Simpson – After Kindergarten care is offered in Terang and Timboon. Childcare programs operate at Port Campbell, Ecklin, Glenormiston, Derrinallum, Lismore and Skipton. We have a 15 place Child Care Training Centre in Camperdown to support ‘growing our own’ educators. All services offer play based early learning programs.

Our Kindergarten programs offer 15 hours for 3-year-olds. We are part of the Best Life Best Start reforms increasing our hours for pre prep (4-year-olds) programs in line with the Government roll out from 16 hours for four-year-olds in 2026 to 30 hours over the next decade. Due to our expansion, we have numerous positions available commencing now and in into the future. We have a casual pool of teachers and educators, and welcome applications from people looking for casual and relief work as well as limited tenure and permanent roles.

All of our kindergartens offer a funded approved program led by a qualified teacher, provision of play-based learning and a program that complies with government guidelines and the National Quality Framework. Our Service guide and policies for Family & Children’s Services can be found here Kindergartens - Corangamite Shire
