Early Years - Application Information

Thanks for your interest in working with the Family & Children’s Services Team at Corangamite Shire. The Family & Children’s Services Team (FCS) operates as #oneteam and has developed an integrated service response to strengthen education and care for children, families, and communities across Corangamite. Our Team provides services including Immunisations, Maternal and Child Health (MCH), Enhanced MCH, Child Care including Long Day Care, Kindergarten, After Kinder Care and Family Day Care.

Child Safe Standards Commitment

Corangamite Shire Council is committed to the safety, participation, and empowerment of all children. Reducing and removing the risk of child abuse is at the centre of our decision-making concerning children in our organisation. Council as a Child Safe organisation has zero tolerance for child abuse and all allegations and safety concerns are treated seriously and acted upon. Council will actively listen to children, ensuring their voices are heard and considered in decisions that affect their lives.

About our programs

Our communities include Camperdown, Terang, Cobden, Timboon, Port Campbell, Simpson, Skipton and Western Plains (Derrinallum and Lismore). We provide early education and care services in all of these communities.

We operate 7 kindergartens, and provide childcare programs at Port Campbell, Ecklin, Glenormiston, Derrinallum, Lismore and Skipton, along with After Kindergarten Care in Timboon and Terang. We have also created a 15 place Long Day Care Training Centre in Camperdown to support growing our own educators.  The services offer play based early learning programs for children at Community Halls and Recreation Reserve facilities and Kindergartens.

We have been in Tranche 2 of the State Government reforms delivering 15 hours of kindergarten for 3yos since 2021. This has meant our services have grown considerably and quickly. We are also part of the Best Life Best Start reforms and will increase our hours for pre prep programs in line with the Government roll out which will expand gradually from 16 to 30 hours over the next decade. Due to our expansion, we have numerous positions available commencing now and in into the future. We have a casual pool of Teachers and Educators, and we welcome applications from people looking for casual and relief work as well as limited tenure and permanent roles.

All of our kindergartens display the Victorian Government Kinder Tick meaning we offer a funded approved program led by a qualified teacher, provision of play-based learning and a program that complies with government guidelines and the National Quality Framework. Our Service guide and policies for Family & Children’s Services can be found here Kindergartens - Corangamite Shire.
