Don’t Shoot Me, I’m Only the Piano Player
Brilliant pianist and actor David Scheel has toured the world, and now he’s bringing his unique talents to Camperdown in Don’t Shoot Me, I’m Only the Piano Player.
The accomplished Australian starred in the famous New Revues on London’s West End and took the lead in other musicals including Stepping Out.
He went on to showcase his extraordinary talents in a solo show, Don’t Shoot Me, I’m Only the Piano Player, which he has toured internationally.
David’s concerts turn classical music on its head.
He can play a popular folk song in the styles of Mozart, Rachmaninoff, an iPod Mini and the blues, or he might play a piece by Bach in the right hand and one by Andrew Lloyd Webber in the left, at the same time. A miniature concerto based on the 20 worst tunes ever written is another favourite piece.
David unwraps the classics and his own highly lyrical compositions, and reveals his true quality as a pianist. Among all this, he takes aim at the icons of modern living: junk food, supermarkets, computerised voicemail and politics, plus a hilarious translation of the lyrics of Waltzing Matilda, all in a huge variety of comic voices and accents.
David Scheel constantly updates his show with fresh material, as he continues to dazzle audiences across Australia.
