There are a number of locations within the Shire that are of environmental interest. 

In the north of the Shire these include:

Central area of the Shire:

• Lake Bookaar
• Mount Leura and Mount Sugarloaf
• Lake Bullen Merri
• Mount Noorat
• Terang Park
• Cobden Lake

In the south of the Shire:

• Gellibrand River Estuary (Princetown)
• Power Creek (Timboon)
• Port Campbell National Park (Port Campbell)
