Glenda and Noel Giddings, aged care volunteers, Cobden

Glenda Giddings retired from aged care work after almost two decades caring for residents at Cobden Health.

She missed the residents so much that she returned as a volunteer a few months later, this time with husband Noel by her side.

“I came back to volunteer because I loved it and had so much compassion for residents. They are great people."

“I used to drive the bus, my husband Noel drives it now and I’m there to help out on the bus outing or with special activities.”

Glenda and Noel volunteer many hours of their time to help uplift and bring joy to residents.

“There’s a lot of satisfaction in volunteering. We are feeling like we are contributing a lot to the residents.”

Glenda and Noel are enjoying seeing happy faces lining up ready for an outing as soon as the bus pulls into the foyer.

“They are lined up at the door, have their bus tickets ready and they are already to go.”

Cobden Health is among aged care providers in Corangamite Shire who are keen to recruit more helpers.
