Council events to launch Grow & Prosper framework
Published on 19 June 2023
Corangamite Shire will star in a campaign designed to help the district grow and prosper.
Mayor Ruth Gstrein encouraged residents to a series of “roadshow” events that will visit towns across the Shire during July.
“There will be light catering and entertainment and a chance to see the campaign video and find out all about our Grow and Prosper Framework,” Cr Gstrein said.
“Musician Geoff Townsend will perform at the first event at the Lake Edge Café at Purrumbete on 4 July. Geoff is fairly new to the Shire so he’s a perfect example of someone who recognised Corangamite is the place to be and made the move.
“The second event is a breakfast at Alderwood Manor in Cobden, then the roadshow will move to Timboon and Skipton.
“I encourage residents to come along to whichever one is closest to you—or all four if you can make it. We would love to see you.”
Cr Gstrein said the Grow and Prosper includes a list of specific actions to help build a prosperous future across all of the Shire’s towns and rural communities.
“The new campaign invites people to come and live with us in our amazing part of the world. Increasing our population and skilled workforce will secure our economic future with flow-on benefits for strong and socially connected communities.”
Cr Gstrein said the campaign also involves a television ad and targeted social media promotion.
“We locals already know this is a fantastic place to live, so there’s no sense preaching to the converted.
“The campaign will be screened outside of the region to reach our target market.
“We’d love for the community and business to come and see exactly what we have been doing on their behalf to ‘grow’ our Shire and help it thrive.
The events are also a chance to meet Council staff and tell them about your challenges and your ideas for the future.”
For catering purposes residents are asked to book ahead here or on 5593 7100.
The framework covers six key areas to serve our Shire's unique needs, opportunities, and aspirations.
- visitor economy
- creative industries
- circular economy
- events and festivals
- population attraction and retention
- specific industry sectors (agriculture, manufacturing, building, health, education, small business, retail etc).
