South West Complex Fire March 2018
Peat fires that burnt near Cobrico and Lake Elingamite for more than 50 days were declared safe on 10 May. No thermal activity had been detected on the surface or underground since 24 April. EPA air quality monitoring equipment has been removed.
The fires burnt more than 15,000 hectares of land across Corangamite and neighbouring shires. Losses include 24 houses and 63 sheds, hundreds of livestock, pasture and silage.
